Put a Little Soul in it…

Put a Little Soul in it…

Hi all! Today I’m posting my blog’s first recipe! Put a little soul into your dinner with this recipe for my mom’s greens. Just a note: some ingredients do not have precise measurements/instructions. My mom is a pro and kind of cooked by taste. Does that […]

a la mode’s the way to go.

a la mode’s the way to go.

Who doesn’t love apple pie? It’s the perfect dessert. There are apples in it so it’s basically healthy. Well, at least that’s what I tell myself. If you’re a pie lover like myself and are in the San Diego area, I recommend taking a trip up […]

Beachy Delights: Part Two

Beachy Delights: Part Two

What does everyone absolutely have to have when they go to the beach? Nooo not the perfect beach body. ICE CREAM! Cold, sweet, creamy, drippy deliciousness. If you happen to go to Pacific Beach, I recommend trying something different than the average drip-droppy ice cream cone. Mmmh, how about a custom, made right before your eyes ice cream sandwich?! Sound good? After gorging ourselves on nachos and stopping to take pictures of our toes in the sand (yes I know we’re ridiculous, but we really only came to the beach to eat) my best friend and I stopped in to Baked Bear.

Upon walking in, I was immediately hit with a huge sign of all the different ice creams and fresh baked cookies that you could use to make your custom ice cream sandwich. I have to admit, I was a bit overwhelmed. But in a “I want to eat every possible combination imaginable” kind of way. While perusing the cookie flavors I saw an alarming sign. Try making an ice cream sandwich with our fresh chocolate brownies. Oh no. Bad idea. Stick to the cookies. Wait, what’s this sign? We now offer doughnut ice cream sandwiches. Excuse me, what? Oh no they didn’t. Somehow I was able to force myself to just go with the traditional ice cream sandwich. But next time doughnuts, I’m coming for you!

Anyhow, I created this little beauty…

Ice cream sandwich heaven!
Ice cream sandwich heaven!

Picasso couldn’t have made a greater work of art! Ok not really, but you’ve got to admit it’s a masterpiece! Here’s what I chose to make this sugar coma treat: A red velvet cake cookie, a cookies and cream cookie, and the absolute loveliest birthday cake ice cream I’ve ever had. I felt sooo miserable after eating this but it was worth it. The cookies were definitely fresh but they weren’t scalding hot, meaning my ice cream sandwich didn’t look like a melted massacre! I can’t even describe how incredibly delicious this was. All I can say is go to Baked Bear. Just do it.

Until next time food lovers!

Beachy Delights: Part One

Beachy Delights: Part One

Foodies never take a day off, especially for a day at the beach! Last week I went to Pacific Beach in San Diego with my best friend. Us being the food obsessed creatures that we are, our main reason for a beach day was FOOD! […]

Grilled to Perfection

Grilled to Perfection

I know we’re nearing the end of August, but don’t put those grills away just yet! I have a quick grilling tip for all of you that appreciate the sweet…the smoky…the barbecue. While grilling, I recommend using a smoker box. Why use a smoker box? […]

Stack it Up!

Stack it Up!

In-N-Out is good, Five Guys is great, but let me tell you about Stacked!

A few weeks ago I went to Stacked at Fashion Valley for the first time with some friends for lunch. When I walked in I immediately loved the atmosphere. It’s dimly lit, very spacious, has a full bar, and has several tvs around the walls so you can easily watch the game from various locations. Even though the restaurant was buzzing it still somehow had an intimate vibe to it.

Easy to use IPad menu.

When you’re seated, your host asks you if you’ve visited before. If you haven’t yet had the pleasure, they proceed to explain their lovely IPad ordering system! There are traditional menus at every table for you to peruse but you do all your ordering on your table’s IPad. You may choose your drinks first and click the “send order to kitchen” button so that you can sip while you decide what to eat. Trust me, it’s going to take some time!

Here they offer burgers, salads, mac and cheese, and pizza. Now, why do they call it Stacked you ask? Because you can stack anything and everything on your choice of food! You can either indulge on a listed menu item or you can create your own! For example, if you decide you want to create your own burger, you are able to scroll through an extensive list of what I’ll call “burger parts”.There are a variety of buns, cheeses, toppings, and sauces to choose from.

Everything from Brioche buns to peanut butter (yes I said peanut butter).

I opted to create my own burger and as you can see my burger is STACKED! I started off with a Brioche bun and Angus beef. For my toppings I piled on Applewood bacon, pickles, grilled onions, onion strings, Roma tomatoes, dark green lettuce, and their Signature Stacked sauce. It was the best burger I’ve ever had (save for Burger Lounge). The Brioche bun was light, fluffy, and sweet and the onion strings were crispy and also had a subtle sweetness. The patty itself was extremely juicy and flavorful. My burger was so big I had to squish it just to bite it. Even so, I ended up using a knife and fork.

All in all myself, my friends, and family enjoyed our burgers. We also tried the chili cheese fries and the spinach dip which were just as delicious as the burger. If you have room (which we didn’t) try their shakes, sundaes, and ice cream sandwiches which are also “customizable”!

Until next time food lovers!

Side note: I’m slightly ashamed to say, I enjoyed my meal so much that I went back the following week with my mom and then the week after that we went with my dad. It’s just that good.
